Inspirations
Overview
Editorial Mission
Inspirations is a lifestyle and gardening magazine for customers of several leading garden centers located around the country. It appeals to the readers’ desire to beautify their homes and yards and to create welcoming spaces for entertaining and relaxing with friends and family.
Writers do not need any special expertise in gardening or landscaping. While there is hands-on gardening content and information about plants, Inspirations is very much about living well, especially outdoors. Its tone, structure, and composition appeal to readers, mostly women, who are looking for practical, time-saving, and novel ideas to enhance their garden lifestyle.
Editorial Structure:
Inspirations is published in distinct versions for each garden center: it publishes content that is common to all the garden centers as well as content that is unique to each. The 32-page (plus covers) publication includes paid advertisements.
Versioned (garden centerspecific) content:
1 page: Over the Fence (Q&A with garden center expert)
3 pages: Feature. This article is often about a particular plant, product line, or style of gardening.
2 pages: Landscapes for Living department. Articles that run in this space vary by garden center but usually focus on a landscape topic or case study of a landscaping project completed by the garden center.
2 pages: Groundbreakers. This space is devoted to featured plants and products.
Shared content:
4 pages: Feature. The main feature is typically about a lifestyle-related topic, such as entertaining outdoors.
2 pages: How I Did It. This regular case study showcases a customer who has solved a problem or is otherwise demonstrating how he or she accomplished the goal of living well in an outdoor space using garden center resources and services. Writers often need to source the subject of the case study.
3 pages: Feature. The secondary feature is usually devoted to a gardening topic, for example, succulents or shade gardening.
Article length:
Articles vary in length from 350 to 1,500 words.

Fees vary based on difficulty of the assignment and experience of the writer with our publication. We pay 45 days from receipt of invoice.
